All the brass pipe fittings are made with thread on them to better fit the system they are manufactured for. The threads vary in sizes, Pitch, Thread Count, Taper thread, straight thread.

Threads like NPT, BSPT, BSPP, NPTF, UNF, UNC, JIC,. Etc. all vary in Thread Per inch, & taper as per the specification of there association or as per  there country’s specifications.
